On Friday, February 23rd, Carroll County Food Sunday Executive Director Ed Leister had the opportunity to speak about CCFS to the 3rd
grade class of teacher Rachel Anglemyer at Sandymount Elementary School. Ms. Anglemyer hosts a project each year called \”Pencil-Gram\” to raise funds for a local non-profit charity.
The third graders get into the spirit of Valentine\’s Day walking
through the halls delivering thousands of pencil-gram valentines to teachers,
students and staff for a donation of $1.00 per pencil-gram. The program
began in 2011 as a tribute to Rachel\’s mother, Rea Lyburn. The students
take orders for the $1.00 valentines and are tasked with taping thoughtful
notes to the pencils. CCFS was their first recipient in 2011 and received
their funds again this year in the amount of $1,183.00.

Gracie Kleinschmidt and teacher Rachel Anglemyer presenting their check in
the amount of $1,183.00 and a personal pencil-gram to Ed Leister.
