Carroll County Food Sunday to Benefit from Grocery Bag Program

\"\"Buying a reusable grocery bag can help support Carroll County’s largest food bank.  Carroll County Food Sunday has been selected as a beneficiary of the MARTIN’S Bags 4 My Cause Program during the month of February.

Launched in March 2019, the MARTIN\’S Bags 4 My Cause Program is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work, as well as for the environment.  The bags are made of 95% recycled materials and are reusable.

Carroll County Food Sunday was selected as the February beneficiary by store leadership at the MARTIN\’S located at 1320 Londontown Blvd. in Eldersburg.  The non-profit organization will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Bags 4 My Cause Bag is purchased at the Eldersburg location in February unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

“Carroll County Food Sunday was one of the first organizations to participate in this program when it launched last year and we raised $274,” said Ed Leister, Executive Director of Carroll County Food Sunday. “We hope to be as successful this year to help serve our food-insecure neighbors in the Eldersburg area.”

About Carroll County Food Sunday

Initially started as a faith-based effort to collect food at Sunday services, Carroll County Food Sunday was founded in 1982 to serve the food insecure.  Today the organization distributes a weekly, nutritionally balanced grocery package to over 400 families per week at its Westminster, Eldersburg, and Taneytown locations. Carroll County Food Sunday meets the growing need through food donations and financial support from the community. Daily operations are managed by two part-time employees and numerous volunteers, and governance is provided by a volunteer Board of Directors. Visit www.ccfoodsunday.org for more information.
